How it works

A football life, simulated

Every career is a deterministic simulation: the same starting point, the same seed and the same decisions always produce the same career. That is what lets us verify results and run fair challenges.

The simulation

  • Seasons are built from the fixtures a club actually plays: the league, domestic cups (only the rounds reached), the league cup in England, continental competitions and qualifiers, super cups and the Club World Cup, plus international matches and tournaments. How many of them you play depends on your role, fitness, injuries, rotation, fatigue, age and the manager's trust. A regular starter usually plays 30–50 club games; 70+ games in a season, club and country combined, is rare.
  • Positions are rated on what matters for them: saves, goals prevented and distribution for goalkeepers; duels, interceptions and passing for defenders; chances and progression for midfielders; goals, assists and dribbles for attackers.
  • Events arrive about once a season on average. Some are decisions, some are story beats you react to. Quiet years happen, and so do chaotic ones. Rarity labels: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Extremely rare, Once in a thousand careers.
  • Training focus each season has costs as well as benefits, and the season screen shows what it achieved.
  • Money (salary, bonuses, endorsements, tax, agent fees, living costs and investments) is tracked separately from football and never changes your football score.

Ranked play and verification

  • Ranked careers and challenges run on our server. The seed never reaches your browser, so nobody can simulate ahead to find the best choice.
  • Every stored result is recomputed on the server from the starting setup and the decision log. Scores sent by a browser are never trusted.
  • Each career can be submitted once. Engine version, timing and the decision log are checked. Requests are rate-limited.
  • Challenge seeds are published on the leaderboard after the challenge closes, so anyone can re-run the verification.
  • Practice careers run in your browser and can be published as unranked career pages after the same replay check.

Scoring (version 1)

The leaderboard score is mostly your football legacy: six dimensions, each 0–100, judged fairly for your position.

  • Individual: awards and standout seasons, including goalkeeper, defender and midfielder awards, not just goals.
  • Club success: league titles (weighted by the strength of the league), European Cups and cups.
  • International: tournaments won, caps and status in your national team.
  • Peak: how good you became at your best.
  • Longevity: appearances and seasons at a high level.
  • Icon status: fame, loyalty, captaincy and records.

Smaller bonuses reward consistency (good full seasons), quality of competition (time in top leagues) and rare achievements. Created players get a difficulty adjustment: harder starting profiles score more (from ×0.88 to ×1.3). Famous-player scenarios are ranked only against the same scenario.

Financial success has its own leaderboard (net worth at retirement, in today's money). It is never mixed into the football score.

Prestige titles depend on how a career compares with simulated careers from the same start: the top 1% are Immortal, the top 5% Elite legends and the top 15% Legends. Everyone else gets a title that describes the shape of their career.

Every result stores the scoring version it was calculated with. If we rebalance scoring, older entries keep their version label instead of silently changing.

Real players

Famous-player scenarios start from sourced facts at a real turning point (see sources). Everything after the fork is fictional. Personal-life events in those careers are labelled as fictional and kept light: no crimes, misconduct or other damaging claims about real people. Abilities and traits are the game's own estimates.
